Rally recap

Last Friday, Amnesty International hosted a rally outside the Mexican consulate in downtown Chicago. The rally was in support of the women of Atenco (read more here), and the turnout was very encouraging. We will likely be posting photos (and possibly videos!) of the event on the site soon, so make sure to check back often! Thanks to all for coming!

Women of Atenco rally on Friday!

Be sure to find your way to the Mexican consulate (204 S. Ashland Avenue in Chicago) at 12 PM THIS FRIDAY to protest the lack of justice for the women of Atenco! Several of the women will be there to speak; posters and other materials will be on hand as well to rally support for the women and protest the lack of action taken by the Mexican government. Check back afterwards for pictures of the event...

We've officially launched!

Hello, and welcome to the new Amnesty Chicago Web site! We are the Midwest regional headquarters for Amnesty International USA, and our coverage extends to the following 13 states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Because we coordinate activities and projects for hundreds of groups all over the region, we decided it was becoming increasingly necessary to develop a Web site to help us keep in touch with all of you -- and to keep you in touch with each other. One of the most important parts of being an Amnesty member is cooperation, and it is our hope that our new Web site will help make things a lot easier.

Please be patient with us as the site will be under construction for a while, and feel free to email us with any questions or comments you have by clicking on the "Contact Us" link at the top or bottom of the home page.
